Welcome to my Farebox Restoration page.
I picked up an old Cleveland Farebox from Nova Scotia through EBAY recently. The box had been in storage for many years and needed some TLC. I discovered the box was last if not always used by Kings Transit in Nova Scotia. Below you will find pics showing my restoration of the 80+ year old farebox. Newest photo's will be shown first. Well the farebox is pretty much done. She is nice and shiny now and looks great. I have some touching up to do and still have to add the light in it. I also need to fix up the brass area's a bit as I kinda got some paint on it and i want to put a good working lock on it. But otherwise it is done!
Shined up the front of the box on Sept 14th. found that the frame for the front is brass and the under is silver. So I think i've decided not to paint those and keep those parts original. If the rest of the box comes out shiny brass too, i will keep that, otherwise I'll paint the rest of the box.
Pictures of the bottom half of the box after 3/4 of it has been stripped of paint.
Picture of the piece I removed still on the box which was the additional coin slot attachement added by King's Transit to prevent fingers and other stuff from going into the coin slot.
